Course Policies

Observation Requirements

We ask that you complete your observation hours with certified STOTT PILATES instructors. In Hawaii, this can be done at Pilates Training Center Hawaii located in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii. Before observing a class, ask the instructor if he/she allows observation and sit in a discrete area of the class. Do not ask any questions or make any comments during observation time unless the instructor asks for your assistance. There are also certified instructors teaching at various locations in your community. Ask their permission to observe and have that instructor initial your log book. STOTT PILATES videos & DVD’s qualify as observation. Please record them carefully as you will need to remit the observation log at exam time.

Physical review

Matwork: We encourage students to take some time following the course to practice and synthesize the information prior to taking the exam. For this reason we allow you to participate in our regular Mat classes here at Pilates Training Center Hawaii for up to 3 months, providing there is enough space. Reformer: At the discretion of instructors working at Pilates Training Center Hawaii, students can practice on their own at this location, providing this does not interfere with existing reformer classes or other studio activities. If you wish to participate in a regularly taught Reformer classes, you can pay the drop-in rate or choose the discounted rate for 10 classes.

Practice teaching

You can begin to practice your teaching skills with clients as soon as 50% of your course has been completed. You can teach at a community center, fitness center or even with friends and family in the comfort of your home. Please remember to log your practice teaching hours for remittance at exam time.

How long do I have to complete my course examination?

Exams must be taken within six months of completing your last STOTT PILATES course. You are welcome to take the exam immediately following the course if you and your instructor agree that you are ready.

What if my course finished longer than 6 months ago?

If you have failed to meet the six month requirement to complete your examination, you must complete private review hours with an Instructor Trainer at the rate of $73.29 per hour to reinstate your eligibility. Material covered will be specific to the needs of the individual to better prepare them for the exam. The number of hours required is based on the course material that must be covered and the demands of the course repertoire. You can also choose to complete another STOTT PILATES course which would give you a six months extension.
